Chapter 4. Administration Overview

GMCSTARS can be customized in two different locations, on MVS and on the VCC server. There are only two manditory customizations, GMCSTARS has to be told the IP address of its managers and the VCC server has to be told which MVS systems will be running GMCSTARS. Other customizations are available to help you control the actions VCC will take when messages are sent to VCC and to help refine the messages GMCSTARS sends to VCC. A final set of controls are used to help isolate problems with GMCSTARS. These should only be used when requested by Global Maintech support.

This portion of the Guide will discuss the most common customizations used with GMCSTARS and give plenty of examples of their use.

Commands are available to copy GMCSTARS MVS configuration files to the VCC server for modification, verification, etc.; as well as to copy the files back from the VCC server. This allows you or the Global Maintech support staff to administer GMCSTARS remotely via VCC's charcons capabilities, as well as using the VCC configuration editor. Of course, you can edit the configuration files using ISPF as well.
